With SRC staffing nationwide, we have felt the effects of the hurricanes through our candidates and clients. We have also found ways to help everyone out.
In these times of natural disasters, it’s always assuring when we know that we are a team. Not even speaking about SRC as a team, but people in our community. People rallying up and willing to extend a hand, donate, and other various ways to help each other.
It had been a dozen years since a major hurricane hit landfall in the United States. But on August 25th, 2017, Hurricane Harvey hit and caused what seemed to be insurmountable damage.Though it seems to be over, the damage is not done. Though the rebuilding process will be a very long one, it is going to happen and you can take part, just as SRC is taking part in helping out the community and the cities affected.
Meteorologists have said that there will be massive damage in Florida and it might be the worst single hurricane to hit Florida since Hurricane Andrew in 1992. The current track of Irma will bring the most severe impacts to the eastern side of the state, including Miami, West Palm Beach, Melbourne, Daytona Beach and Jacksonville. However, with the forecast track now taking Irma right up the Florida Peninsula, hurricane-force winds will reach western parts of the state as well, including Tampa, Fort Myers and Sarasota.
SRC wants to extend our thoughts to everyone affected by both Hurricanes, the brush fires going on in Portland and the 8.2 Earthquake that just hit Mexico/Guatemala
Here’s How You and SRC Can Help
SRC normally has our season of giving back and donating during the 4th Quarter. Although that is still in effect (more information to follow as the time gets near), we are all hands on deck when it comes to unexpected and natural disasters. The following are charities that some of the team have donated to or have recommended through a legitimate source. All of the logos you see below are linked to their respective websites.
Disclaimer: SRC doesn’t have “favoritism” towards any charities, if you have a charity in mind, please comment or email us and let us know.:
Salvation Army – “The Salvation Army exists to meet human need wherever, whenever, and however we can”
Portlight Inclusive Disaster Strategies – “Portlight Strategies, Inc. was founded in 1997 to facilitate a variety of projects involving people with disabilities, including post-disaster relief work.”
AARP Foundation – “AARP Foundation works to ensure that low-income vulnerable older Americans have a safe way out of the hurricanes and disaster relief.”
Save The Children Charity – “We do whatever it takes for children – every day and in times of crisis – transforming their lives and the future we share.”
Hurricane Pet Rescue Inc. – Hurricane Pets Rescue Inc. (HPR) was founded in 2005 in the wake of Hurricane Katrina, and began as a disaster relief organization for animals.
These are just a handful of organizations that help.
SRC talks frequently about our stout work ethic, but seeing it first hand, I do recognize the attitude and willingness to help in many ways across the organization; not just from a business standpoint. At the end of the day, we’re all human and as much as you prepare for natural disaster, it is comforting to know, there will be help.
